Corona Diaries 5 May 2020

Desa Culik was completed today totalling 525 families over 3 days.

The team is like a well oiled machine now,  and keeping the banjar leaders responsible for ensuring there is local distancing and never more than 10 people in the banjar waiting area at any one time has been the biggest challenge. We have had to be firm on this to ensure we are not breaching any of the protocols set down by the Government to ensure everyone's safety.

Even with a mask on, you can still see smiling eyes and we try to be personal with each person coming ,sharing a warm look, a small joke or a few words. Connection is everything.

Desa Purwa Kerthi is next for 494 families on this round over 2 days, Friday and Sunday.

This gives everyone some down time which is necessary for calming the mind and stresses and also lends an opportunity to raise some more funds before we begin the cycle again.

There is a cash payment available from the Government of IDR 600,000 per family per month for the next 3 months which has started to be distributed now which is great. As the Government rations have not yet arrived, it really highlights the importance of working closely with the Kepala Desa so that they are well informed about who needs help the most.
