Corona Dairies June 4th 2020

A busy few days with challenges and good news.

Our TB patient, Ketut, has had his check up since being discharged from hospital- he is deteriorating, so the need to get Ensure milk for him to have regularly is very important.

Nyoman Wage has a very bad pressure sore, he has been sent to Sanglah and will undergo more tests tomorrow and will require surgery as soon as that can be scheduled. In the meantime, he needs doctor attendance daily. From what we have been told, surgery is at least 2 weeks away.

The 75 year old man that was in the palm shack, has been in hospital for a week now, and a tumor has been discovered in his abdomen  and further tests are being run to see if it is benign or malignant, He has improved with a blood transfusion from his grandson.

I met up with Kylie from Crisis Kitchen Bali and helped her assess some areas in Karangasem and then returned with her to the south and will spend 2 days with them in their operation helping where I can.

This morning, good news came. We have had 17 are of land donated for planting and it was checked yesterday and is very, very good and has a water supply! Our alliance with Tanam Saja is progressing and after speaking to them this morning, they will sponsor a few hundred dollars for seeds and fertilizers, it costs between $20 and $30 an are to plant so that is a good start and Crisis Kitchen will also help us with costs. An analysis is now being done of what equipment we will need and we hope to get going on this ASAP. Growing food rather than buying it is always a preferable option for sustainability.

We have 482 families over 3 Desas that have not received any aid as yet, so that is our mission for next week. Can we start all over again and get a second round to a population of 22,837? As much as I would love that, we just are not in a position to begin and not be able to cover very Desa, we just do not have the funds right now and will need to fully rely on donations picking up again to be able to start that. 100,000 IDR or AUD$11 or USD $7.50 can get a care pack to a family in need of food.
